The Museum of Play

Hello everybody! I've been in New York for the last three weeks visiting my grandparents. For two of the weeks that I was away, my mom and dad were in Europe. The rest of the time, mom was with us in upstate New York. I always love going back to New York. We used to live there when I was a little toddler. I love seeing Oma and Opa and swinging on their porch swing and playing in their backyard. I love going to the library on the Erie Canal and stopping at the candy shop next store. I love playing with all the neighborhood kids in the backyard.
For the last couple of years, we've been going to the Strong Museum of Play in Rochester. Doesn't that sound like a fun museum?
They have a Sesame Street Land. You can put on a puppet show or pretend to be on a Sesame street movie or visit Big Bird's house.
They have a fairy tale land with pirate ships, giants, mystery rooms, and even a Cinderella pumpkin.
They have a train, post office, airplane, hotel, construction site, a car assembly line and all kinds of places to pretend to work like a grown up. Our favorite place was the grocery store. You can work in the bakery, or the butcher shop. You can even pretend to be the manager and send out a message for the whole store. You can shop and then you can even ring yourself up. Best of all you can film your own cooking show. My little brother was the camera man and my mom watched the whole thing in the next room on TV.
Visiting New York is always so much fun. I already miss reading with Oma and eating her popcorn. I also miss Opa's warm homemade bread! New York is full or wonderful things, but it's great to be back home! Happy Thanksgiving to everybody!

Sailor, I was born in Rochester NY and my mom and I used to go all the time to Strong Museum for play dates with our friends. I remember Big Birds HUGE nest and the "sand box" full of little plastic pellets. You must have had so much fun. I made your Peanut butter fudge bars and my mom blogged about them today! Check it out and thanks for the yummy recipe. I'm glad you are home!

I love the way that museum looks. It reminds me a little bit of the one we went to together in Las Vegas. Do you remember?

Glad you are back and blogging! We missed you.
